The Spear Of Destiny This is one of the most fascinating and sinister relics ever recorded. Known by many as the spear that pierced the side of Jesus Christ at the crucifixion, this particular artefact has a history far more ancient and far darker than could at first be imagined. The Spear Of Destiny can be seen in the Hofburg in Vienna, but its journey to get there starts many years and many countries distant. Thought to have been part of the Jewish regalia dating back to the time of King David prior to its use by the centurion Longinus at the crucifixion, The Spear has subsequently been present at the martyrdom of the Theban Legion, the coronation of Charlemagne, the Crusades, the campaigns of Frederick Barbarossa, and at the courts of no less than five Saxon emperors. Each holder of this relic believed their power to emanate directly from it, and yet nearly all of them, after periods of unimaginable power, suffered disasters of biblical proportions, yet The Spears darkest hour was yet to come. During the Second World War (1939-1945), the Nazi forces where responsible for collating many of the world's religious and magical relics to be used by the Occult Division of the SS. It is interesting to note that Reichsfuhrer Himmlers castle was known as "Black Camelot", and it was here that the power of these relics was attempted to be inverted against the allied forces. Remember also that this is supposedly the very same spear with which Sir Balan smote the "Dolorous Stroke" thus crippling the Fisher King, and destroying the land, and starting the Grail Quest as its only possible salvation. |
